Frank Lampard reveals he almost died as a child

He is one of the UK’s biggest football stars, still retaining the title of Chelsea’s all-time leading goalscorer.

But Frank Lampard revealed he almost suffered a very different fate after admitting that he almost choked to death as a child.

The 39-year-old sports star was left fighting for his life after suffering a freak accident when playing a musical instrument.

‘It nearly killed me’: Frank Lampard has revealed he came close to death as a child after choking on the mouthpiece of a trumpet

He told The Guardian: ‘I swallowed the mouthpiece of a trumpet as a kid. It nearly killed me.

‘I had to go to hospital to have it taken out.’

The candid interview also saw Frank open up about his marriage to wife Christine Lampard, who he wed in 2015.

Speaking about the ‘secret’ to a strong relationship, the children’s author claimed physical attraction was very important.

He confessed; ‘[The secret to a good relationship] is fancying each other. Christine and I make each other laugh and have fun, but I am sure we fancy each other more and more as time goes on.’

And Frank’s feelings are certainly reciprocated as the Loose Women host gushed about how much she fancied her husband on the show last year.

Speaking candidly, the 38-year-old broadcaster hinted at a wild sex life with the footballer – confessing that she ‘fancies him very, very much and feel very lucky.’

Talking with her fellow Loose Women panellists, Christine had no qualms in discussing her strong intimate relationship with Frank as talk turned to not fancying your partners.

‘I love the idea of going back to basics. I love my date nights. I love pretending like I am 18 again, you know when you get your hair done for the day.

‘I know this sounds really soppy, but nothing fancy. I just mean the two of us having one night just us,’ she continued about her other half, who she met at the Pride of Britain Awards in 2009.
