Guard catches inmate who jumped off balcony in Nevada

A prison guard in Nevada saved a suicidal inmate’s life after he leaped from a balcony in an attempt to kill himself.

Deputies were alerted to a suicidal inmate, and when they arrived they found a prisoner balanced on the second story railing at the Nye County Detention Center.

A video shows one of the deputies running up the stairs. She begins wrestling with the inmate trying to prevent him from jumping.

However, the prisoner was able to push back from the railing and plummet backwards to the ground. 

According to a Facebook post, Deputy Joshua Armendariz ‘caught the inmate in the air, cushioning his fall.’

‘They both came to rest on the floor, mostly unhurt.’

Both were taken to a nearby hospital and then released. 

‘The quick thinking and fast work by Deputy Joshua Armendariz and Deputy Ann Horak saved this man’s life,’ the press release said.
