Karl Stefanovic and Jasmine Yarbrough’s bizarre reception gazebo takes form ahead of reception

Karl Stefanovic and Jasmine Yarbruogh have erected a bizarre beach-side gazebo to host their wedding reception.

While Friday’s run-through took place inside the One&Only Palmilla Resort’s iconic hilltop chapel, it seems that the reception will take place on the beach instead.

On Saturday, the mysterious metal structure began taking form, with onlookers sighting a set of DJ decks, a dance floor and what appears to be a canopy of LED fairy lights.

That’s unexpected! Karl Stefanovic and Jasmine Yarbrough have erected a bizarre beach-side gazebo to host their wedding reception

Daily Mail Australia understands the wedding ceremony will take place in the courtyard outside the chapel.

Surrounded by a forest of greenery, the historic white chapel features beach views, a gorgeous garden with pink blooms and a small ornate fountain at the entrance.

The venue also comes with a luminous pool deck, a spiral staircase to the bell tower and a private terrace for the Today show host and his wife-to-be.

The idyllic chapel fits up to 40 guests inside and up to 240 guests outdoors.

Hours before the lavish ceremony, the newlyweds-to-be went to extreme lengths to ensure any media suspects and threats are removed from the premises.

While gun-toting Mexican police reportedly patrolled the beach venue, guests were left scratching their heads as they ‘knew nothing’ of the day’s schedule ahead.

Clad in camouflaged uniforms and carrying weapons, the police searched the public beach in front of the ritzy resort from 9am, as reported by News Corp on Sunday.

In addition, resort staff are also spread around the Sea of Cortez, reporting on any new arrivals using two-way radios.

Meanwhile, guests panicked as they were being kept in the dark about the plans and locations of the ceremony.

‘We don’t know anything!’ one panic-ridden guest exclaimed while speaking to the publication.

‘We just get these secret texts (saying) ‘be here at this time’,” they added.

Speaking candidly about her feelings for husband-to-be, Jasmine told The Daily Telegraph this weekend that she isn’t entering into marriage lightly.

‘I’ve a very loyal person so choosing one person for life is a big deal for me,’ Jasmine proclaimed.

She continued: ‘It means having someone by your side while you navigate this crazy, beautiful and sometimes challenging thing called life.’

Explaining her perfect wedding day, the Mara & Mine shoe designer went on to say she had always thought it would be on a beach.

‘I never was a girl who dreamed of their wedding. I never imagined it, so I don’t have any expectations,’ Jasmine said.

A friend of the pair went on to say that groom Karl was overwhelmed by the positive attention, and glad his family could be in attendance.

‘He is overwhelmed by the attention but most importantly wants to share this amazing celebration with them and Jasmine,’ the friend told The Daily Telegraph.

Following Saturday’s wedding and reception, the festivities will continue on Sunday when guests will attend a Studio 54-themed disco party.

While the couple’s costumes remain a secret, the pair are said to have splashed out on the shindig, even hiring a bongo drum player to arrive on horseback just as Jade Jagger did in 1977.

Karl and Jasmine, along with many of their celebrity guests, are staying at the luxury One & Only Palmilla resort in Los Cabos.

The happy couple booked two villas, one at US$8500 (approximately AU$11600) per night, and another for US$11000 (approximately $AU15000) per night.

On Friday, Jasmine and Karl enjoyed a rehearsal soiree with friends and family at the ritzy Mexico venue.

Mara & Mine shoe designer Jasmine enthralled wedding-watchers, donning a slinky pink slip dress by UK designer Galvan.

Oasis songs, including the band’s classic 1990s anthem Wonderwall, were played during the rehearsal, as guests mingled and grazed on cheese and thinly-sliced deli meats.

An insider at the resort said: ‘It was unusual to hear Oasis being played at a wedding rehearsal, particularly an Aussie wedding, but the music will go down a storm. They’re real sing-a-long, boozy anthems.’

Behind the smörgåsbord of food, was the couple’s Bundaberg Rum bar, stocked with a limited edition mix, for guests to enjoy during the afternoon.

‘The rehearsal is just for close friends and family, with the main dinner held in their villa,’ a source told Daily Mail Australia.

It’s believed a total of 187 guests will attend the nuptials including a slew of famous faces.

The guest list includes Today entertainment reporter Richard Wilkins, along with Karl’s Channel Nine journalist Peter and his wife Sylvia Jeffreys.

Karl’s three children, River, 12, Ava, 13, and Jackson, 19, will also be in attendance.

Karl had recently split with the wife of his three children Cassandra Thorburn.

The Today Show host was wary of starting a new relationship, given that his 21-year marriage had just ended.

His separation from Cassandra garnered lots of public scrutiny and as a result, the father-of-three took a two-month sabbatical at the time.

As Karl’s romance with Jasmine began to blossom after going public in 2017, ratings at the Today show began to decline.

By February 2017, ratings for Karl and then co-host Lisa Wilkinson continued to drop every week day across the five-city metro rating figures.

Karl and Jasmine enjoyed a relatively low-profile, however, by June they began to consistently make headlines.

Karl and Jasmine’s romance was splashed across the newspapers that month, as the couple was spotted on James Packer’s yacht in Bora Bora.

Photographs surfaced of a bikini-clad Jasmine riding a jet around the billionaire’s super yacht with Karl.

It was around this time that Jasmine revealed to News Corp that it was difficult to deal with the growing ‘attention’, adding that ‘no one expects it or prepares you for it.’

Karl also hit back at criticism he had moved on too quickly, speaking telling Stellar magazine he did not expect to fall in love so soon.

‘I certainly did not expect to meet someone five months after I broke up with my wife,’ Stefanovic said.

He continued: ‘It was unexpected and lovely, but we’re going to try to keep a level of privacy to how we’re going and what we’re planning.’

‘We are yet to work out when we will get married, but probably later this year. We are both very happy,’ Karl told The Fix in February.

The engagement ring was made by upmarket Sydney jeweller Nic Cerrone, and reportedly cost $100,000, which later Karl denied.

Jasmine and Karl made the surprising decision to have a commitment ceremony in March at a mansion in Sydney.

The event took place in the lush garden of a mansion in Palm Beach on March 10, with Jasmine looking every inch the glamorous Sydneysider.

Karl’s youngest children, Ava and River attended the ceremony, however, reports suggested the Channel 9 journalist’s eldest son Jackson was not present.
