Marcell Dareus accused of raping pair of women in 2 separate lawsuits

Two women have accused Marcell Dareus of sexual assault in two separate lawsuits

Jacksonville Jaguars defensive tackle Marcell Dareus has been accused of sexual assault by two women, one of who claims that the 28-year old gave her a sexually transmitted disease.

A Texas Jane Doe filed a lawsuit in Duval County, Florida, alleging that she went on a date with Dareus only to wake up in a hotel room after a sexual encounter that she could not remember.

She continued a sexual relationship with Dareus over the next several days, during which time the former first-round pick did not use protection, and she was later diagnosed with herpes.

‘Defendant committed aggravated sexual assault by knowingly transmitting herpes to the plaintiff without her knowledge or consent, causing her serious bodily injury,’ the lawsuit stated, according to the Daily Beast.

She demanded a jury trial, seeking damages in excess of $15,000.

The suit added that Dareus’ ‘negligence per se has caused [Doe] to suffer severe physical and mental injuries, including, but not limited to, past and future medical costs, past and future pharmaceutical costs, past and future physical pain and suffering, past and future mental anguish and loss of enjoyment of life.’

In a separate lawsuit also filed in Florida, another unnamed woman claimed that she woke up in a bed next to Dareus and ‘began to immediately realize that there had been sexual physical acts upon her person.’

Criminal charges have not been filed, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

According to the Times, the woman met Dareus in Tampa last January while the former Alabama star was reportedly renting a 6,820-square-foot property called Villa Adriana for the Crimson Tide’s national championship game against Clemson.

The woman claimed she was invited to an after party at the property, where alcohol, marijuana, and cocaine were being consumed. She claims Dareus ‘grabbed her breast and attempted to put his hands between her legs’ despite her objections.

There will be an August 9 hearing on the matter, where Dareus hopes to dismiss the lawsuit filed in Hillsborough County Circuit Court.

The third-overall pick of the 2011 NFL Draft, Dareus spent the first six years of his career in Buffalo while being named to two Pro Bowls.

Last season he helped the Jaguars reach the playoffs for the first time since 2007.
