She is said to be shaken up by the incident, but was not injured. Police are now hunting the robber and a possible accomplice driver.

England star Bertrand, who had played in his team’s match with Cardiff the previous afternoon, was inside the couple’s home with their two children when the robbery unfolded.

A source told The Sun: ‘It is believed she was followed by robbers who spotted her watch and jewellery.’

Birch and Bertrand are often pictured on his Instagram account during holidays abroad. The footballer once referred to her as ‘Superwoman’.

The couple and their children live not far from the training ground of his former club, Chelsea.

It is not thought the robbers knew of Ms Burch’s connection to the footballer.

Surrey Police said the robbery happened shortly before 6am on Sunday morning. No arrests have been made.
