An angry homeowner caught his neighbour stealing his power by plugging an extension cord into the side of his house.

Linh Doan found the cable hanging over the fence of his Perth home and inserted into the socket using a double adapter.

The father-of-two said he confronted the neighbour in Bennett Springs, who instead of apologising and explaining why they did it, ‘had a go’ at his family.

‘If they told us what happen and explained to us, we would probably let them off. But instead they had a go at us acting like a bunch of crackheads,’ he said.

He also claimed the neighbour told him police said to use his power as it was knocked out when a car smashed through the living room wall.

The out-of-control Suzuki hatchback driven by an L-plater collided with the two-story house about 7pm on Tuesday, writing off the car but not injuring anyone.

Mr Doan said Western Power told him it couldn’t do anything about the power theft and police were yet to attend after he called them.

Daily Mail Australia contacted WA Police for comment.
