Sophia Bush speaks out about why she left Chicago P.D.

Sophia Bush has gotten in the final word.

The 35-year-old actress reiterated why she departed the NBC program Chicago P.D., answering back to fans on Instagram on Saturday as they questioned if there was an untold backstory in her departure from the crime drama from famed producer Dick Wolf.

The speculation came on the heels of Bush’s announcement Thursday that she would be featured in a starring role on a 20th Century Fox TV program – with additional producing opportunities – as part of a new pact with the studio.

It ‘took me a long time and a lot of hard work to get out of that show,’ the former One Tree Hill star said in response. ‘Please don’t demean my capabilities by degrading my position. I left because I wanted to. End of story.’

In hearkening the deal, Sharon Klein of the Fox TV Group said of Bush: ‘She’s smart, she’s passionate and she brings great ideas and energy to the table,’ adding, ‘She’s a giant TV star and we’re thrilled to have her exclusively at FTG.

‘We’ve been great admirers of Sophia for years,’ Klein said, ‘and after meeting, we knew we wanted to be in business with her.’

Wolf addressed Bush’s departure from the program when he attended the Television Critics Association summer tour this past summer, saying that ‘she wanted to leave.’

Wolf was cavalier about replacing Bush on the show, as he said of her departure, ‘I don’t think it will have any effect at all’ on the program.
