Speaking to the NZ Herald after the match, Mr Kinder revealed it had taken him a total of 20 hours to make the red banner and had even waited outside Bouchard’s hotel last week hoping to catch a glimpse of her before the tournament.

‘She called me over, she was looking in the crowd and asked where I was … she appreciates my support,’ he said.

Bouchard vowed if the Atlanta Falcons triumphed over the New England Patriots in then she would go on a date with student John Goehrke, after he had tweeted the Canadian, ‘if patriots win we go on a date?’, to which the tennis star replied ‘Sure.’

She came good on her word and flew Goehrke to New York to watch an NBA match.

Speaking to the Kansas City Star, Goehrke said: ‘I thought maybe there was a chance she would respond, but I thought there was no chance she’d actually agree to it.’

Eugenie was previously asked how the date went, and she gave a thumbs up: ‘Awesome, he’s normal. He picked me up at my hotel, like a gentleman, and we came over here.

‘He bought me a nice little gift. We enjoyed the game courtside and he’s a normal fan.’
