Woolworths has recalled a cleaning product which has put children at risk of being poisoned.

The supermarket’s branded Essentials Domestic Cleaner may have a faulty child restraint cap, which may cause the product to leak.

Woolworths have informed consumers that if the poisonous substance leaks it may pose a health risk and possibly damage property.

The faulty products were sold two years ago in April 2016 to 18 July 2018.

Those who have the product at home are urged to dispose of it immediately by wearing safety gloves and disposing the content down the sink with plenty of running water.

Any affected areas should also be wiped down with a damp cloth.

Customers looking for a refund should rinse the bottle and present it and/or a purchase receipt of the product to any of their local Woolworths stores.
