A wanted sex offender was arrested as he stepped outside a house to get a good view of the solar eclipse, authorities said.
Ladarius Martez Blue, of Waterloo, Iowa, was picked up as part of ‘Operation Most Wanted’ after he failed to register as a sex offender.
The 26-year-old, who was convicted of of a lascivious act with a child under 13 in 2010, had been missing since June, The Gazette reported.
Blue was spotted coming out of a home Monday, ‘in what appeared to be an attempt to observe the solar eclipse,’ Marshals said.
When he saw the officers he tried to run away, but authorities found him hiding in a waste container.
Blue had admitted the 2010 offence but failed to register as a sex offender a year later.
He was taken to Linn County Correctional Center and now faces additional charges.
