Aaron Rodgers says the Panthers ‘are in good hands’ with Bryce Young

Aaron Rodgers praised Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young, telling reporters Young’s maturity will ensure he does well at the pro level. 

Despite his lean 5-foot-10 frame, Young has impressed Carolina in camp – and it seems like the NFC South team aren’t the only ones. 

‘I like the kid a lot, we share an agent,’ Rodgers told reporters pre-practice Wednesday. 

‘So I’ve known about him for a long time. I loved watching him in college. I like his demeanor. I like his movement. I like the way he throws. … So I think Carolina is in good hands.’ 

Young was taken with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft and collected numerous accolades during is three years in Tuscaloosa, including the Heisman Trophy and a national championship.

The media’s concerns about his height will linger, just as they have for the likes of Drew Brees, Russell Wilson and Kyler Murray, until Young has proven he can excel at the next level. 

‘Be gentle with yourself,’ Rodgers said, when prompted for advice if he were speaking to Young. 

‘It’s a long journey. It feels like every little snap and practice is the end of the world if it doesn’t go right. It’s just not true. It’s a long, long journey. 

‘It’s about holding onto your confidence and enjoying the ride, enjoying the little things every day. But I think he’s got a great head on his shoulders, and he’ll be just fine.’

Both Young and Rodgers had reportedly difficult moments up against the respectively stout defenses at the Panthers’ base in Spartanburg, South Carolina. 

Young looked promising at stages against a Jets defense without Sauce Gardner, but did throw an interception which was hauled in by Brandon Echols. 

The Jets and Panthers were set to practice Thursday before it was canceled due to weather and safety concerns.
