‘And that it had spread everywhere but it isn’t as bad as we thought!! I am very happy and you will get updates in a few days. Love all my fans. I will continue to be a social media sensation’.

In a series of videos posted to Instagram Stories on Monday, the radio host wept as she asked her fans for advice on how long the pup was likely to live after his initial  diagnosis, speculating that he had just months left.

In further clips, Abbie filmed herself in the shower, revealing she had been sitting on the floor and weeping.

‘I don’t want this to discourage anyone from adopting a senior dog,’ she sobbed, adding that she didn’t regret rescuing him.

‘I am so glad I got him out of the shelter,’ Abbie said, before explaining that she would feed the dog, who she nicknamed ‘The Prince’, his favourite meal of roast chicken every day he has left.

Later, Abbie said that she and her boyfriend Konrad Bien-Stephens, 31, had both decided they needed to stop crying as the dog could sense their negative emotions.

Abbie snuggled in bed with Marco in further photos, calling the pup her ‘best friend’.

Marco is an 11-year-old senior rescue dog that Abbie described on her Instagram as ‘an endless ball of kisses and cuddles’.

She revealed she’d adopted the animal in a post on Instagram in March, sharing a series of photos of the new addition.

‘Everyone meet our new baby angel MARCO!!!!!!! Marco was a rescue pup that has had a hard life so now he will live a life of LUXURY,’ she wrote.

‘He’s 11 years old, so was turned down a lot when people would meet him at the shelter because he was ‘too old’ (rude, he’s in his prime) but when I met him I had to take him home.’
