Abbie Chatfield’s radio co-host Rohan Edwards abruptly resigns

Abbie Chatfield’s radio show in crisis as her co-host Rohan Edwards abruptly resigns just weeks after the executive producer quit

Abbie Chatfield’s national radio show appears to be in crisis after her co-host and executive producer resigned within weeks of each other.

Hot Nights with Abbie Chatfield, hosted by the 27-year-old reality star-turned-social media sensation, is broadcast on fifty stations across Australia as part of Southern Cross Austereo’s pop-music-focused Hit Network.

The program has been doing fairly well in the ratings since it was launched in January 2022 off the back of the success of Chatfield’s podcast It’s a Lot, which airs on SCA’s LiSTNR platform.

But despite the show’s popularity, rumours of strife behind the scenes have circulated for months, with the latest departures all but confirming the speculation.

Chatfield’s co-anchor Rohan Edwards resigned on Monday effective immediately – a move that will no doubt surprise listeners as they were known for their friendly on-air banter.

His exit was confirmed in an email to Hit Network staff on Monday – the day all the major radio shows returned after the two-week Easter survey break.

Edwards had been off the air without explanation the week before the survey break, with another presenter, Nic Kelly, filling in for him.

‘No one’s sure what’s going on. Abbie seems to get along well with Rohan on the air, but people are wondering if things aren’t so rosy behind the scenes,’ a source said.

Edwards had been with the Hit Network for more than six years. He joined Hot Nights after leaving his role as afternoon announcer for Brisbane’s B105.

In another blow for Hot Nights, executive producer Max Corstorphan, who had helmed the show since its launch in early 2022, also quit several weeks ago.

An SCA spokesperson said Edwards had quit the network to pursue ‘other interests’ and would not be drawn into speculation of a rift with Chatfield.

‘Rohan Edwards has made the decision to step away from his role as anchor on the Hit Network’s Hot Nights with Abbie Chatfield show to pursue other interests,’ the company told Daily Mail Australia.

‘The Hit Network wishes Rohan all the best for his future.’

No reason was given for Corstorphan’s departure.

Chatfield broke into the entertainment industry with her blockbuster podcast It’s a Lot, which launched shortly after her appearance on The Bachelor.

The podcast eventually got picked up by the SCA-owned ‘audio destination’ LiSTNR, which led to her hosting her own radio show, Hot Nights with Abbie Chatfield.

Chatfield, who had never hosted a radio show prior to Hot Nights, broadcasts weeknights from 7pm while continuing to record episodes of It’s a Lot.

She is known for discussing adult topics on her podcast, often describing lewd acts in detail and sharing her own sexual experiences.

The influencer rose to fame on the 2019 season of The Bachelor before going on to appear on Bachelor in Paradise and I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!
