Accused predator, 38, ‘snatched a 12-year-old girl from outside her primary school and sexually assaulted her’

  • The man was refused bail because of the serious nature of his alleged offence

  • If convicted, the man would spend a maximum of 14 years behind bars

A man accused of abducting a 12-year-old girl and sexually assaulting her with the intent of rape has been charged with assault and refused bail. 

The 38-year-old allegedly dragged his victim from outside a school in South Burnett, Queensland, in broad daylight before abusing her, South Burnett Times reported.

He appeared via videolink in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on Friday where he was refused bail because of the serious nature of his alleged offence.

Magistrate Louisa Pink told the court the young female was not known to her alleged  attacker. 

She said if the man was convicted, he would spend a maximum of 14 years behind bars.

The matter is due before court for further mention on October 15.
