American Idol alum Josh Gracin and wife Katie announce they are expecting a baby boy (and they’ve already picked out a name)

Former American Idol contestant Josh Gracin and his wife Katie are expecting their first child together.

The celebrity couple told People on Wednesday they’re expecting a son early next year who they will name Luka.

‘Katie and I are beyond excited for baby Luka to arrive early 2020!’ the 38-year-old country singer told the magazine. ‘We’ve been praying for a baby since we decided on a name last year for a boy and a girl.’

He told the publication the name Luka was derived from his father’s background: ‘Luka represents my father’s Croatian heritage and Italian blood. Prayers were truly answered!’

In an Instagram post, Josh, a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, wrote: ‘Baby Luka Gracin coming 2020, Katie and I couldn’t be more excited!!’ said. ‘Thank you @people for sharing our news.’

Katie, a 28-year-old graphic designer, said on Instagram that she and her spouse ‘are SO excited to’ make the announcement, and ‘can’t wait to meet our baby boy,’ adding, ‘We’ve even had the name picked out since before being pregnant.’

Katie and the Nothin’ to Lose performer got married in Nashville, Tennessee two years ago.

The Lucky Stars artist told People they developed a fast chemistry, saying, ‘We got to talking and realized we had a lot in common, so I asked her on a date. Our motto is that there are no accidents, only reasons.

‘How we found each other and fell in love is the reason we believe and live by that.’

The Westland, Michigan native participated in the show’s second season in 2003, which was won by Ruben Studdard.

He has four kids from his previous marriage to ex Ann Marie – girls Isabella Sophia, 10, Gabriella Ann, 12, Briana Marie, 17, and son Landon Joshua, 13.
