Animal rescue center posts adoption ad for the ‘world’s worst cat’ admitting Perdita hates kittens, children and hugs – and even the ‘vet agrees…she’s just a JERK’

  • Mitchell County Animal Rescue, North Carolina posted about Perdita on Facebook Wednesday saying the ‘vet agrees…she’s just a jerk’
  • The ad to adopt the feline described her as a pet that’s ‘not for the faint of heart’
  • It describes her ‘likes’ as ‘staring into your soul until you feel as if you may never be cheerful again’ and ‘fooling shelter staff into thinking she’s sick’
  • The post said she dislikes kittens, children, Disney movies, Christmas and hugs
  • Social media followers praised the shelter for the honest advert and some described Perdita as their ideal cat, even dubbing her the ‘mascot of 2020’
  • One person said: ‘I’m gonna kick my p***y a** dog out and adopt this b****h! At least she will look and act mean like a watchdog is supposed to!’
  • But they’ve had no takers so far after saying she’s ‘single and ready to be socially awkward with a socially awkward human who understands personal space’

An animal rescue shelter has posted an ad on Facebook, asking followers to adopt a cat described as a ‘jerk’.

Mitchell County Animal Rescue in North Carolina shared the poster titled World’s Worst Cat on Wednesday, adding in a tagline: ‘We thought she was sick, turns out she’s just a jerk.’

‘Meet Perdita,’ it begins. ‘Not for the faint of heart.’

Accompanied by images to illustrate her personality, the social media share says her ‘likes’ include ‘staring into your soul until you feel as if you may never be cheerful again’ and the song Cat Scratch Fever.

Shelter staff went on to compare her to the feline character made popular by Stephen King novel Pet Sematary and popularized again in last year’s movie remake.

Continuing to describe the pet’s interest, a social media manager added ‘the movie Pet Cemetery (Church is her hero), jump scares (her specialty), lurking in dark corners, being queen of her domicile’ and ‘fooling shelter staff into thinking she’s sick’.

It added about the latter, the ‘vet agrees…she’s just a jerk’.

The funny posts shares a snap of Perdita looking unpressed in front of a decorated Christmas tree and goes on to state her dislikes as ‘the color pink, kittens (yuk they are so chipper), dogs, children, the Dixie Chicks, Disney movies, Christmas and last but NOT least…HUGS.’

The Facebook page also showed donates from 13 people had raised $350 for the cat.

However, the shelter told Fox News that so far no one has taken up the offer to give her a new home, despite ‘FREE ADOPTION ;)’ being written at the bottom of the caption.

Mitchell County Animal Rescue has asked animal lovers to fill out an application online at mitchellcountyanimalrescue.org if interested.

But her new owner shouldn’t expect to get close to the black-and-white fur-ball when she does arrive at her new home.

The online post adds the disclaimer: ‘She’s single and ready to be socially awkward with a socially awkward human who understands personal space.’
