Ant & Dec cut sombre figures as they share a hug following their beloved Newcastle’s loss to Man U

Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly were spotted looking crestfallen after their beloved Newcastle lost 2-0 to Manchester United in Carabao Cup final at Wembley on Sunday.

The duo, both 47, shared a hug following the disappointing result which saw Newcastle’s Svent Botman hitting an own-goal and sealing the Red Devil’s first trophy in six years.

The Saturday Night Takeaway stars were joined in the crowded stands by their respective partners  Anne-Marie McPartlin and Ali Astall.

Following the final whistle the former Byker Grove actors were seen looking shocked and holding their head in their hands.

Longtime Newcastle supporter Ant was wearing a scarf in the team colours along with a black varsity jacket with a pair of black jeans and a cap with black lace-up boots.

SM:TV Live, which helped catapult them to stardom, required them to get celebrities in for chats.

But not all of the big names were happy to be on the show, with Christina Aguilera their standout tough interviewee.

She refused to get involved with their highjinks live on the show like other stars did and requested that their discussion was pre-recorded.

Speaking to Huff Post, they said: ‘She (Aguilera) sat there in her shades, and wouldn’t take them off. It was a pre-recorded interview, because she didn’t want to do it live.

‘Everything pointed towards it being a bad interview. And it turned out to be a bad interview.’

It comes after Ant and Dec admitted that they once hosted an episode of SMTV: Live after a wild night out.

The presenting duo confessed that when they presented the ITV show on the Millennium, they’d gone on air after celebrating the New Year in Newcastle.

Ant told Glamour Magazine: ‘We never drank on a Friday night! One year we did, that was the millennium.’

‘We were on air that next morning. We were in Newcastle, so we drove down through the night and went live on air, slightly worse for wear. That was the only time.’

Luckily Ant and Dec presented that very show from a bed on the set, with Cat , poking fun at the fact that most of the nation had been celebrating the previous evening.
