Are YOU being ‘zombied’ by your dates? Singleton claims dating trend is WORSE than being ghosted

If you thought that getting ‘ghosted’ was one of the worst parts of modern dating, it might be time to think again.

According to singer-songwriter Mariel Darling, being ‘zombied’ is infinitely more frustrating.

Earlier this month, the New York-based musician, from Massachusetts, went viral on TikTok when she opened up about her experience of online dating world.

In a viral video that’s amassed over 1.5m views, Mariel explained how she’d coined the new phrase ‘zombied’ – which she claims is a step above being ‘ghosted’.

Where ‘ghosting’ simply involves cutting all contact with the person you were dating without any explanation, getting ‘zombied’ means your former flame ‘comes back from the dead’ to initiate a conversation out of the blue.

Mariel Darling, from New York, US, made a TikTok video where she explained what being ‘zombied’ means

Mariel said: ‘Girl you’re being ghosted? I’m out here being zombied.

‘It’s like ghosting but he comes back from the dead after a couple of months and hits you up.’

She captioned the clip: ‘Who else has been zombied?’

The video racked up a whopping 152,000 likes and almost a thousand comments, with users sharing their own experiences of the dating trend.

One wrote: ‘Have you ever noticed that they all zombie you at the same time?

‘Like why are four guys from my past all hitting me up on the same day???’

Another said: ‘Mine has a Jesus Christ complex, he comes back every 3 days.’

A third penned: ‘Been zombied 3 times.. I think… at the moment he pops up and messages me. He said it’s small talk. Whatever.’

‘Mixed with the thriller music video because all these boys be tap dancing around commitment.’
