Australia Post driver caught skipping customer’s express postal delivery

An angry customer has shared the moment an Australia Post worker accelerated past his house without stopping to deliver his express parcel.

The postie’s white delivery van was seen driving straight past the man’s home in Auchenflower, in Brisbane’s inner west, just before 11.30am on Monday.

The driver was seen slowing down as he held his phone out the window to take a photo of the man’s letterbox before accelerating down the street.

‘Express post [not delivered] today. Must have been late for a date,’ the customer captioned the video on Reddit.

The customer, who did not want to be named, told Daily Mail Australia he was at home when the driver drove past.

He said the parcel contained parts for an air conditioner and that he had paid extra to have it express delivered so the installer could set up the new system.

‘I was at home all day because I look after the kids and it’s a pain in the a** to get the kids in the car and drive down and pick up the parcel at the post office,’ he said.

He said he got a notification on his phone saying he wasn’t at home when the driver arrived, prompting him to contact Australia Post and lodge a complaint.

The CCTV footage, which was uploaded to reddit, showed the driver slowing down as he held out a phone to take a picture of the letter box (pictured)

‘I wanted them to at least give him a call and tell him to go back and deliver the parcel, but they can’t do that apparently and that’s a frustrating thing,’ he said.

The man explained that delivery drivers no longer have to leave a note to inform customers they missed the delivery slot.

Instead, drivers simply take a photo of the letterbox at the address before customers get notified to collect their parcels at their nearest post office.

The furious customer was forced to collect the parcel himself on Wednesday at the Toowong Business Centre.

He said staff at Australia post, including the case manager assigned to address his complaint, were helpful in assisting him with his inquiry.

He also uploaded an email from the case manager, which showed an investigation had been conducted over the issue.

‘We have investigated the issue of no attempted deliveries with the Pinkenba Parcel Delivery Centre,’ the email stated.

‘They have confirmed that this has been addressed with the staff concerned and the appropriate action has been taken to ensure this does not happen again’.

Dozens of commenters expressed sympathy for the man with many sharing their own horror delivery experiences in the Reddit thread.

‘I was home all day and the driver didn’t even come to my house and went straight to the post office. It was also meant to be an express delivery,’ one person wrote.

Others claimed that a new delivery driver was assigned to their route when they filed a complaint indicating their parcels weren’t delivered.

‘I second this. I have submitted footage before of [Australia Post] contractors doing the same s*** and then suddenly I have a new delivery person,’ one person said.

Australia Post charges customers between $14.45 and $31.35 to deliver parcels through express postage depending on the size of the package.

A Australia Post spokeswoman told Daily Mail Australia the delivery should have been made in the first instance and the issue has since been addressed.

‘This matter is clearly not in line with the high standards we expect from our driver contractors, and Australia Post has sincerely apologised to the customer,’ the spokeswoman said.

‘Following contact from the customer we took swift action to address this issue, and our local team has taken appropriate action’.
