Australian shoppers have been left amused after spotting a $369 strapless dress online that could be mistaken for ‘bed sheets’.

The ruffle dress, which can also be worn as a skirt, was shared on Markdown Addicts Australia’s Facebook page.

Made from 100 per cent linen, the dress, available in white and red, has been listed for sale via an Australian department store website for just $29.70.

But some social media users quickly joked they can get the same style in the comfort of their home simply by wrapping themselves in bed sheets or a towel.

‘I’m sure you could use a bed sheet and create the same look,’ one commented.

Another said: ‘That honestly looked like someone wrapped in a towel. I had to go back and look three times.’

One suggested: ‘Looks like she’s wearing a sheet and red bathroom slippers.’

‘Same. Though it was a bed sheet,’ another added.

The outfit emerged on Facebook after a shopper asked fellow social media users what they thought about the dress because they were considering buying it.

Some shoppers thought the dress was a bargain – while others wanted to get their hands on one but didn’t have any left in their size.

Most of the sizes are sold out in both colours but there’s still sizes eight and 10 in white available for purchase online.
