Australian tourists are devastated after heavily armed police stormed a notorious Bali nightclub and shut it down. 

Armed police swooped on Sky Garden in Bali on Friday night, amid claims the nightclub was not paying taxes and following increased crime. 

Confused Australian tourists surrounded the nightclub after a sign from the Badung Public Order Agency read that the club did not have an operational permit since January 16.

Police then performed reenactments of the crimes they allege occurred in the club, from theft, assault, and sexual harassment, 7News reported. 

The closure of popular nightclub, which is filled to the brim every night and boasts 20 DJs across four stages, has been welcomed by Kuta locals who have complained about the increase in crime. 

‘We support the closure of Sky Garden as it has caused restlessness among Kuta residents,’ The Kuta Customary Village head, Wayan Wasista, told 7News. 

‘Sky Garden has opened until early morning, causing too much noise until early morning. People living around the area cannot sleep well.’

The club is required to close at 2am however they remain open much longer, disturbing local residents.

The closure comes after an Instagram influencer couple were slammed for splashing each other with holy water at a temple in Bali.

Tourists have been issued a stern warned that if they disrespect Bali’s holy sites are warned they’d be sent back home in disgrace. 

‘In the future, if there are tourists behaving like that we should just send them home, they are being disorderly coming to Bali. We will give them this warning,’ Bali’s Governor Wayan Koster said. 

‘There needs to be more order, from the services and facilities at tourist attractions, as well as the ethics of tourists. We will give a standard for guidance.’

Bali Tourism Board boss Ida Bagus Agung Partha Andyana said tourists lacked knowledge that what they were doing was disrespectful.

‘Most of them do disrespectful things in holy places because they do not know or understand the rules that apply here,’ he said.
