Australian fashion website ASOS claims to have sold 43,400 pairs of the style since March, as a growing number of shoppers fall in love with the relaxed and versatile look.

‘It’ girls including Kim Kardashian and Kendall Jenner are fans of the ’90s-inspired minimalistic silhouette, which first returned to catwalks in 2020 and looks set to stay on trend for the foreseeable future.

Black sandals are the most popular colour among online shoppers, according to sales data from ASOS, which is also seeing huge demand for pastel shades such as peach, pink and mint green.

The hashtag ‘thong sandals’ is linked to 32,015 photos on Instagram where women are showcasing their style and versatility.

Prices range from $30 for discounted styles from ASOS and Australian label Dazie, all the way to $300 for designer pairs from the likes of By Far and Yeezy.

But for those who can’t justify investing in open-toed heels this winter, Australian stylists have been hard at work sharing their top picks for affordable boots on social media.

Fashion influencer This is Genevieve, who is known for making cheap clothing look like high-end designs, opted for $49.99 block heeled boots from Spendless Shoes.
