Bachelors star Jed McIntosh shares heartfelt video as he celebrates almost one year of sobriety after ‘struggling’ with alcohol

Jed McIntosh has shared his emotional journey to sobriety.

In a video shared to Instagram, the 26-year-old musician from Victoria, who starred on The Bachelors last year, said he had been ‘struggling’ and was in recovery.

‘A big part of my life over the past year and a bit has been my sobriety,’ the former reality star began the clip.

‘Has it been perfect? No, there’s been a few days where I have given it a royal crack and reminded myself as to why I don’t drink,’ he continued.

‘I could not have achieved this without the help of my family and friends and all the people that have been in my life since then. It has been quite a hard thing and I hate it when people cry on Instagram.

‘If you see somebody numbing themselves, there is a reason behind it. I encourage everyone to try and see the reason, not the problem.

‘So thankful that everyone has helped me and believed in me to help me achieve whether it’s a day, six months, three months, not a year yet, but we will get there one day of sobriety,’ he said.

Jed continued in his lengthy caption: ‘I want to thank everyone in my life past present and future that has helped me in my journey of sobriety. It’s been a hard road but a lot easier than what my life was while partying.

‘The best is yet to come. If you are struggling with drinking or anything please reach out to myself or someone, you are not alone.

‘We have all had trauma in our lives but numbing it solves nothing, some times you have to let the fire refine and sharpen you’.

He continued: ‘This isn’t the sake for everyone I still love being out and seeing mates smash a pint and have a laugh, but this is my journey and what works for me.

‘Sometimes I fall short of this discipline but I’m getting better as time goes on and learning each day’.

Jed and his ex-girlfriend Alésia Delaney, who he met on The Bachelors, announced they had split last year.

Just days after her announcement, Jed was photographed packing on the PDA with a busty beauty at Ms Collins, an event space in Melbourne.
