The parents of 22-year-old Bakari Henderson have spoken out for the first time about their son’s tragic death in July.
His mother spoke to CBS News as she revealed her son felt: ‘more comfortable overseas than in the United States.’
She added: ‘He just felt it was safer over in Europe and overseas in general, he said you know with the climate, with African American males in the US.’

In his first comments, the security guard who has been charged with homicide over the attack said that some jealous Serbians objected to Henderson and his friends talking to a Serbian waitress.
The security guard also said the Serbian asked the waitress: ‘What are you doing hanging out with the Americans?’ just before the fight began.
Two people have been charged with homicide over the killing, the security guard, a 32-year-old Briton of Serbian origin, and a Greek barman, 34.
Henderson was from Austin, Texas, and in May graduated from the University of Arizona in Tucson where he studied Business Finance and Entrepreneurship
Six other Serbians are being questioned.

The CCTV footage, obtained by Greek newspaper Protothema, is from a bar on the same street as Bar Code.
Henderson’s friends created a GoFundMe page which has reached $75,471 of its $80,000 goal.
The page is to raise money for his funeral and transportation costs to return his body back to the United States.
