Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton voted most admired

  • Obama beat Donald Trump for the title most admired man in America in 2017
  • Trump came in at second place on the annual Gallup poll released Wednesday 
  • Obama has been given the title every year since he was elected 
  • Hillary Clinton was named the most admired woman for the 16th year in a row
  • Michelle Obama came in second, while Melania Trump also made the list

Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton have been voted the most admired man and woman in the United States, according to Gallup’s annual poll.

The former president beat Donald Trump for the title with the current Commander in Chief coming in at second place. 

Obama has been given the title every year since he was elected.

A total of 17 percent of respondents voted him most admired compared to the 14 percent that voted for Trump. 

Trump now joins a small number of former presidents who failed to win Gallup’s most admired title while in office. 

Clinton was named the most admired woman for the 16th year in a row, according to the Gallup poll results published on Wednesday.

The former Democratic presidential nominee has won the title a total of 22 times.  

Michelle Obama came in at a close second.

Other notable males to be included on the list include Pope Francis, Rev. Billy Graham, John McCain, Elon Musk, Bernie Sanders, Bill Gates and Mike Pence. 

Admired females to make the list included Oprah Winfrey, Elizabeth Warren, Angela Merkel, Queen Elizabeth, Melania Trump and Beyonce. 

A quarter of Americans who responded were unable to name a man or woman they admired most. 

Gallup has been asking Americans which men and women they most admire anywhere in the world for seven decades.

The poll was conducted between December 4and 11 among 1,049 adults in the United States.
