Ben White has flown home from England’s World Cup campaign over a personal matter.

The FA confirmed on Wednesday night that the defender, who is yet to feature for Gareth Southgate’s side here in Qatar, has left the team’s training camp in Al Wakrah.

The statement says White is not expected to return home.

‘Ben White has left England’s training base in Al Wakrah and returned home for personal reasons,’ read the statement.

‘The Arsenal defender is not expected to return to the squad for the remainder of the tournament.

We ask that the player’s privacy is respected at this moment in time.’ 

His club last night tweeted: ‘We’re all with you, Ben.’
