Sharing her story on TikTok, Hannah explained how she had been sitting in the pub with her friends on Bank Holiday weekend when they were approached by the pigeon.

‘I didn’t really notice him at first,’ she told  Nottingham Live. ‘I told my friend that she could swap with me, so we swapped places.

‘He just comes on my knee all of a sudden and he stayed there for about three and a half hours. In the end, he was almost tucking himself into my jacket.’

At the end of the night, the pigeon had fallen asleep on Hannah so she decided to take it home.

She gave it a bed in a disused pet carrier in the garden shed but feared the bird was so frail it might not make it through the night.

But Penny has gone from strength to strength and is now more confident in Hannah’s company.

She later learned that the bird had been abused by revellers in another pub before wandering in.
