A computer whiz created mind-boggling images that worked out the average face of all the players on each World Cup team.
Programs were used to identify the players’ unique facial features, skin colour and hair and amalgamate them together.
They produced bizarrely life-like images of players that do not exist – though they do come across as somewhat familiar.
Reddit user tokenizer_fsj used, who created the images, said he made the faces by downloading snaps of each player before running them through the program ‘Numpy’.

Tokenizer_fsj used then used a face morpher, which ‘builds the geometry of the face by identifying elements on it such as the eyes’.
He added: ‘The results are much more compelling [than just using Numpy only], and we are definitely able to put a face to the teams now.’
The amalgamations proved a hit on Reddit as users commented on the realistic images of players who aren’t real.
BuenosAllce said: ‘I’d date Denmark!’
Berserker added: ‘Good work. But I’d like to see something more. Please mix all the 32 average faces together in a single World Cup player.
‘I’m very curious how that would look.
