When a Bluey episode about pass the parcel aired back in December 2021, it cause quite the controversy over how the beloved children’s party game is played.

Now two years later, an American mother has reignited the debate over the correct way to play it.

In the program’s episode, the beloved dogs fight over whether there should be a prize under each layer of wrapping paper or just one at the end. 

Taking to TikTok, the mum said she too is completely confused about the game after watching the episode. 

‘This message is for the creators of Bluey,’ she says in the video.

‘If you’re going to continue to put out quality television that I am using to raise my children, I am going to need an instruction manual along with every season.

‘Because my children now want pass the parcel for their birthday and I don’t know how to do that, and apparently this is doing it wrong but this is the American version, and it isn’t right but this is what we’re doing.’ 

Although the mother said she knew it wasn’t the correct way of doing it, that didn’t stop TikTok users from having a laugh in the comments.

One wrote: ‘That’s so painful where’s the wrapping paper’ followed by a crying face emoji.

‘We’re raising a nation of squibs,’ he grumbles, reflecting on how the game was traditionally played, with some layers left empty, and said kids simply needed to ‘suck it up’.

When it was time to host his own son’s birthday party, Lucky’s dad opts to have just one main prize at the end of the game.

Although the children are initially disappointed, they came to love Lucky’s dad’s version of the game and even requested it at later parties.

If they missed out on the prize, they would tell themselves ‘maybe next time’ and then move on.
