Bombers fans give Jack Ginnivan the middle finger salute in droves after Magpie taunted them with a VERY cheeky goal celebration

  • Jack Ginnivan copped abuse from Bombers fans as he lined up a shot
  • He then gestured towards them to keep quiet after he slotted his kick through
  • Bombers faithfuls met the celebration by giving him the finger
  • 21-year-old booted five majors in his Anzac Day clash debut

Jack Ginnivan got his first taste of one of the AFL’s most febrile rivalries on Monday and duly stoked up the flames.

With the score tied at 20 early in the second quarter of the Anzac Day clash at the MCG, Collingwood’s young star lined up a shot at goal while copping plenty of abuse from the Essendon fans over the fence.

Ginnivan coolly slotted his second major of the game, before turning to the Bombers supporters and putting his index finger to his lips to silence them.

Unsurprisingly, the celebration did not go down well with Bombers fans at the Punt Road End, who replied in kind and gave the 21-year-old the finger.

With no love lost between Collingwood and Essendon, Ginnivan must have known his gesture would have provoked a reaction, but Leigh Matthews saw nothing wrong with the celebration.

‘I like his life and energy and cheekiness,’ the AFL legend said on Seven.

‘I reckon it‘s a positive, not a negative.’

Seven commentator James Brayshaw was similarly impressed with the youngster’s character.

‘We did talk about how it‘s a very heavy Bombers representation at the Punt Road End,’ he said.

‘Jack‘s just mentioned to a few of them that they can keep it down to a dull roar.’

Celebration aside, Ginnivan left his mark on his first Anzac Day game, kicking five majors.
