BREAKING NEWS: Brittany Higgins’ alleged rapist Bruce Lehrmann, 26, is committed to stand trial

The man accused of raping Brittany Higgins in a federal minister’s office has been committed to stand trial.

Bruce Lehrmann, 26, pleaded not guilty to sexual intercourse without consent at Parliament House in March 2019.

Prosecutors and Lehrmann’s lawyer agreed to skip committal proceedings for an expedited path to an ACT Supreme Court trial.

Lehrmann did not show his face in ACT Magistrates Court on Friday, instead opting to appear via phone.

‘Hello, Bruce speaking,’ Lehrmann told magistrate Robert Cook who proceeded to commit the man to trial.

His case is due in the Supreme Court on November 18.
