Brittany Snow reveals friends and self-care helped her get through divorce from Tyler Stanaland

Brittany Snow has been taking her own advice. 

The 37-year-old actress, who is starring in The Good Half with Nick Jonas, spoke about the importance of self-care on the red carpet of the movie’s premiere Thursday.

In a new interview with People, she opened up about how she’s been doing since filing for divorce from husband, Tyler Stanaland, 33, in January. 

The couple married in March 2020 and announced their separation in September 2022.  

‘I think everybody goes through really tough periods and then it’s all in our perspective and how we deal with it, right?’ said the Almost Family star.

Brittany, who co-authored the book September Letters: Finding Strength and Connection in Sharing Our Stories with her friend Jaspre Guest, explained that her friends really came through for her in her time of need. 

‘In the past year I went through probably the hardest mental health challenge I’ve ever faced.’ the Someone Great actress told Bustle. 

‘In one day, in a matter of hours, my life turned completely upside down. I was blindsided and everything I thought I knew, held sacred and truly trusted in my life was completely different.’

The turmoil only increased when, ‘a couple days later my grandmother passed away and I think every thing I knew about mental health was tested.

‘Thank God for my friends. I don’t know if I would have made it without them. They reminded me who I was and the things I stood for.’

Brittany revealed one of her Pitch Perfect co-stars was instrumental in her getting to the other side of her heartache.

‘The last year has been really tricky for me, and one of the girls, I just, you know, opened up her door and I just fell down to the ground and just cried and laid there. And she basically nursed me back to health for like four days.’

‘And it wasn’t the one that I thought was going to be able to do that, either. I think that’s what’s really important about this book, knowing that a thing you can have in your toolkit is a community of friends that will just sit with you on the floor.’ 

‘They don’t need to give you advice. They don’t need to fix it for you. They just are there.’ 

Brittany’s film, The Good Half, co-stars Nick Jonas, Elizabeth Shue and David Arquette. 

Writing about her experience on Instagram, Brittany said this of the dramady: ‘This is truly a special movie. I’m so proud to be a part of a film that tackles grief is such a funny, nuanced and unexpected way.’

‘Congrats to (director) Robert Schwartzman & (writer) Brett Ryland for showing us your hearts,’ she concluded.

The actress had praise for her on-screen family, including the guy who stars as her brother.

‘Nick Jonas. I’m not sure how one human can be any more talented but he does it all & will blow you away,’ the star raved.
