A Perth father has been fatally stabbed after he tried to stop a teenager from stealing a bike on a suburban road. 

The 42-year-old man pulled over to help after the young man tried to run off with a bike in Bull Creek, in the city’s south, just after 10am on Sunday. 

The Good Samaritan was stabbed in the stomach by the knife-wielding teen and rushed to Royal Perth Hospital, where he sadly died of his injuries.

A 15-year-old boy was arrested on Monday afternoon and is currently speaking to police. No charges have yet been laid.

The married father intervened after a young boy was pushed off his bike by the teenager while out riding with three of his friends. 

The group will now serve as witnesses to police as they continue to hunt for the teenager they believe responsible for the 42-year-old’s death. 

Witness Diya Shivlani told 9News that she was shocked that someone could be stabbed over something as simple as a bike. 

‘We see across the road there’s a person lying on the floor bleeding, they were holding an ice-pack on this person and they were crying out in pain,’ she said.  

‘I am absolutely shaken. This is ridiculous that it happened in daylight over a bike, is it even worth stabbing someone over a bike?’

The Perth father was rushed to hospital in a critical condition and remained in intensive care unit for seven hours before dying of his injuries.

His family is understood to have spent most of Sunday by his side.
