Chelsea striker David Fofana is expected to finalise a move to Burnley this weekend after he was recalled from his loan at Union Berlin.
Talks accelerated with Burnley on Thursday evening and the 22-year old is poised to have a medical in the next 48 hours.
Fofana is set to fly back to the UK on Friday, making a medical on Saturday more likely.
This means he will not be available to play in Burnley’s league clash with Luton on Friday night, but the deal is set to go through shortly afterwards.
His return freed up an international loan spot and allowed Ian Maatsen to seal his loan move to Borussia Dortmund.

Sevilla wanted Fofana on loan but needed to wait for Chelsea to cancel another loan move or sell one of the seven players they have filling their limited loan spots.
They now look to have missed out on his signature to Burnley who are looking for better options in attack.
The Clarets have only scored 20 goals in their 20 league games this season – bottom side Sheffield United are the only top-flight team to score fewer times.
Fofana scored two goals in 17 appearances for Union Berlin in the first half of the season, but is viewed as an exciting prospect, and Burnley will hope he can hit the ground running as they aim to avoid the drop.
Fofana’s imminent arrival could lead to another Burnley forward being shown the exit door.
Darko Churlinov, 23, is wanted by Bundesliga side Schalke, having not played for Vincent Kompany’s side this season.
