Canberra: Woman, 30, charged after she allegedly tried to run her ex-boyfriend over twice with her car near a suburban pool

A young mother has been charged after she allegedly tried to run over her former partner twice in front of her children in broad daylight.

Police allege the woman, 30, and her two children met the man near Dickson Aquatic Centre in Canberra at about 12pm on Monday.

The pair had a conversation on the street before the woman allegedly got into her car and drove at her ex-partner.

After narrowly missed him, the woman allegedly reversed the car and drove at him a second time, hitting him in the hand and ribs.

She allegedly fled the scene with her children before emergency services arrived. 

Police attended the scene and conducted interviews with the injured man and other witnesses.

Officers then attended a home in O’Connor in the city’s north where the woman was arrested

She was charged with aggravated assault occasioning actual bodily harm, aggravated property damage, and driving offences.

She is scheduled to face the ACT Magistrates court on later Tuesday.

ACT Policing urged anyone experiencing family violence to call police.
