Channel 10 denies rumours Studio 10 is set to be cancelled

Channel 10 hits back at reports Studio 10 is being AXED after the network announced a new breakfast show – as rumours swirl Sarah Harris is eyeing off Lisa Wilkinson’s job on The Project

Channel 10 has categorically denied rumours Studio 10 is on the chopping block.

The morning show has been struggling in the ratings for years, with The Australian reporting there are now fears within the network it could soon face the axe.

But a 10 spokesperson rubbished the speculation on Monday, telling Daily Mail Australia the program remains profitable and isn’t going anywhere.

Channel 10 has denied rumours Studio 10 is on the chopping block. The morning show (hosted by Sarah Harris, left, and Tristan MacManus, right) has been struggling in the ratings for years, with The Australian reporting there are now fears within the network it could soon face the axe

The rumours surfaced last week when Channel 10 dropped the first half hour of Studio 10 and replaced it with a new morning bulletin, 10 News First: Breakfast.

The Australian also reported that long-serving Studio 10 host Sarah Harris could be looking for a new challenge at the network after recently filling in for Lisa Wilkinson on The Project during her post-Logies break.

But a 10 insider shut down the rumours, telling the newspaper: ‘Studio 10 is in no danger. With all of its advertorials, it more than pays its way.’

A network spokesperson added to Daily Mail Australia: ‘The article [in The Australian] says it wont be axed and any inference to the contrary is completely false.’

Studio 10’s current line-up consists of co-anchors Harris and Tristan MacManus, newsreader Narelda Jacobs, roving reporter Daniel Doody and entertainment presenter Angela Bishop.

Harris has hosted the breakfast show since 2013.

Channel Nine reportedly tried to poach her for the Today show in December 2018.

It's also rumoured host Sarah Harris (pictured) could be moving to The Project after recently hosting the current affairs program during Lisa Wilkinson's post-Logies break

Network bosses were supposedly interested in hiring her as a co-host alongside Georgie Gardner.

At the time, Karl Stefanovic had just been axed from the show – he would return a year later – but Harris was still under contract at Channel 10.

MacManus, a former professional dancer, joined Studio 10 in September 2020, less than a week after former panelist Joe Hildebrand revealed he was leaving.

However, one source has denied the rumours and is claiming the breakfast show's endless infomercials make the network money
