Charlize Theron, 48, says her daughter Jackson, 11, has STOPPED giving her hugs now that she is in middle school: ‘It’s a whole different game’

Charlize Theron is experiencing empty nest syndrome years ahead of schedule when it comes to her oldest daughter, Jackson, 11.

The Monster’s Ball star revealed to People that Jackson doesn’t want to hug her anymore.

‘My oldest just went to middle school and it was literally, it was so sad. I was like, ‘Where’s my baby?’ the South African born beauty joked.

She revealed that Jackson pleaded, ‘Mom, please don’t look, mom, don’t hug me,’ [and] I was like, “Can I hug you?” She’s like, “No, no.”‘

Quickly humbled, the Academy Award winning star quipped, ‘Oh my God. It’s like a whole different game.’

Staying positive in spite of her daughter’s (innocent) rebuff, the Mad Max: Fury Road star surmised, ‘There’s something about having kids that you’re so aware of the changes that come and they happen really fast and it’s just a tremendous jump from one year to the other.’

She concluded that, ‘It’s always exciting to see where they’re going to go in the next year.’

The Tully starlet, who adopted both of her daughters, opened up in a 2018 Elle interview about why she chose adoption over having biological children.

‘I never saw a difference in raising an adopted child versus my own biological child. I don’t feel like I’m missing out on something,’ the mother of two admitted.

She added, ‘Adoption was always my first choice.’

Jackson was the first daughter Charlize adopted in 2012 — she’d adopt her second daughter, August, in 2015.

Proving to be a cool mom, Charlize took her daughters to a Taylor Swift concert back in August.

The accomplished actress also made sure to credit her mom, Gerda Theron, in her journey towards parenthood during her Elle interview.

‘To not acknowledge her in coparenting my children would be a lie,’ the blonde beauty declared, crediting her mother as a great co-parent.

Revealing in the interview that she had a strong desire to be a mom in her 30s after ending a relationship in her 20s, the Snow White and the Huntsman star said, ‘I struggled mentally through the adoption process.’

It was hard for the ageless beauty to get attached to kids she wanted to adopt, only to not get approved throughout the grueling adoption process.

‘There were many situations that didn’t work out, and you’d get attached and have all your hopes up and then just get crushed,’ the Dior spokesmodel admitted.

The one quality that Charlize believes makes her a great mom, according to the actress herself, is the fact that she’s, ‘never given a sh** about what people think.’
