Netflix fans are delighted after it was revealed that a chart-topping show has been renewed for a second season, following a string of rave reviews.

Viewers have been begging for second series of Supacell since it was released on the streaming platform back in June.

Fans were quick to hail the sci-fi show as ‘informative and eye-opening’ with some admitting they ‘stayed up all night’ to binge it.

Season one reached the number one spot in the Netflix global TV series list and it remained in the top 10 for six weeks.

Now, those who couldn’t get enough of the series are in luck as bosses at the streaming giant have given the show the green light to continue.

The edgy, six-part British take on the superhero story follows a group of five ordinary people who unexpectedly develop superpowers. They have little in common except for one thing: they are all Black South Londoners.

Each of the five heroes has their own personal problems, while struggling to wield a special ability.

Season one featured Tosin Cole as lead star Michael Lasaki, a delivery driver with the ability to teleport and manipulate time.

He was joined by Adelayo Adedayo as Dionne Ofori, Michael’s fiancée, and Eddie Marsan, who’s character is trying to hunt them down.

Showrunner, Creator and Lead Director Rapman said ‘I can’t wait for the world to see Supacell, Season 2. For me Season 1 was always an origin story.

‘Season 2 is when the journey really begins. Season 1 was my Batman Begins, Season 2 is my Dark Knight.’

Sharing their thoughts on X at the time of Supacell’s release, fans gushed: ‘I need ALL of you to get into Supacell.

‘The way this show managed to be entertaining thanks to the fantasy/sci-fi side of it but also so informative and eye-opening was really a beautiful surprise. Sickle cell is not spoken about enough! I need a season 2 EXPEDITIOUSLY.’
