Chris Brown is off the hook as Florida authorities drop a battery charge

He has faced numerous legal battles in the past decade stemming from allegations of assault and sexual violence.

Now Chris Brown has one less thing to worry about as authorities in Hillsborough County, Florida, dropped a battery charge against him on Monday, according to TMZ.

The 30-year-old Look At Me Now singer was originally charged for alleged assaulting a photographer in Tampa in April 2017.

Scott free: A battery charge against Chris Brown, 30, was dropped by Florida authorities on Monday. The charge stemmed from an April 2017 assault of a photographer

According to the Tampa Police Department at the time, Brown ‘sucker punched’ a photographer at the AJA Channelside nightclub.

The incident happened around 1 a.m. during an after party event that he had been paid to attend.

According to Florida’s WFLA, Bennie L. Vines was punched so hard that he hit a wall and injured his lip on impact.

Vines worked as the in-house photographer for the club and claimed he was taking photos when Brown blindsided him.

According to a police report, Brown hit the photographer for taking pictures.

‘It wasn’t a brawl, Brown punched a photog for the club and walked out,’ Robert Solomon, one of the club’s owners, told WFTS Tampa Bay.

He also alleged that the Beautiful People singer was only at the club for a total of five minutes out of the hour he was contracted for, and the incident ended up costing the club tens of thousands of dollars.

The photographer previously said in June that he planned to sue Brown for the assault and his injuries.

The singer had previously been charged with only a misdemeanor, so authorities waited until he returned to the state after the event to arrest him.

His alleged assault of the Tampa photographer was just one in a long line of run-ins with the law over the past decade.

In 2009, he pleaded guilty to felony assault after beating his then-girlfriend Rihanna hard enough to require a hospital stay.

Three years later, the R&B singer was involved in an alteration at a New York night club with rapper Drake and his entourage that left eight people with injuries.

Singer Frank Ocean alleged that Brown had shoved him and threatened to shoot him during a 2013 argument over a parking space outside a West Hollywood recording studio.

The same year he had 1,000 hours added to his community service requirements stemming from attack Rihanna after his involvement in an alleged hit-and-run accident in Los Angeles.

Brown was later sentenced to 131 days in jail in 2014 following parole violations, though he was released early due to overcrowding.

He was arrested again in 2016, after a woman called the police claiming he had threatened her with a gun inside his home. He engaged in a standoff with the LAPD after refusing them entry with their search warrant, all while posting inflamed Instagram videos about the incident.

Following a Florida concert in July 2018, the Yeah 3x singer was arrested on a felony battery charge and released on $2,000 bail.

The singer was arrested in France in January for aggravated rape after being accused by a 24-year-old woman.

No charges were eventually filed, and he filed a defamation suit against earlier this year against the French model whom he previously called a ‘lying b****’ in a now-deleted tweet.

Brown will be returning to Tampa at the end of August for a performance at the city’s Amalie Arena.
