Christian Pulisic is booed onto the pitch by Chelsea fans

Christian Pulisic is booed ON TO the pitch by Chelsea fans in what is likely to be his last game for the club… as the American’s nightmare season ends on a low note

  • Pulisic once again started among the Chelsea substitutes in Newcastle draw
  • He didn’t receive the best reception from Chelsea fans when brought on
  • American is expected to be sold with Napoli and Juventus among those linked

Christian Pulisic was booed on to the pitch by Chelsea fans during what is likely to be the American’s final appearance for the club.

The 24-year-old winger is expected to be part of the mass summer clear-out at Stamford Bridge having endured a difficult season.

The United States international was named among the substitutes once again by Frank Lampard for Chelsea’s final Premier League match at home to Newcastle United on Sunday.

He was introduced with just two minutes remaining, replacing Noni Madueke, but was jeered by some sections of the Chelsea support.

Pulisic did have a late chance to win the match for Chelsea when Raheem Sterling ran at the Newcastle defence and teed him up, but his shot lacked the necessary power.

The game ended 1-1 with and own goal by Kieran Trippier handing Chelsea a point after Anthony Gordon’s early opener.

It confirmed a hugely underwhelming 12th-placed finish for the Blues after a turbulent first season under the ownership of American Todd Boehly.

Pulisic, who cost Chelsea £58million when he signed from Borussia Dortmund in January 2019, is expected to leave the club with Italian clubs Napoli and Juventus among those linked with him.

The American has scored one goal and contributed two assists in a season affected by a knee injury. Pulisic has started just eight Premier League matches and 10 in total after falling out of favour.

Although Pulisic has one year remaining on his contract, Chelsea are expected to offload him to raise funds for incoming boss Mauricio Pochettino and to keep within Financial Fair Play constraints.

If he does depart, Pulisic would have 26 goals and 21 assists from his 145 Chelsea appearances in total.

He helped Chelsea win the Champions League in 2021, coming on as a substitute in the 1-0 win over Manchester City in the Porto final.

Pulisic had earlier scored an important goal in the first leg of the semi-final against Real Madrid, while also teeing up Mason Mount to make it 2-0 in the return game.
