Coronation Street SPOILER: Ryan Connor’s bandages are removed as he views his injuries for the first time after heroically saving Daisy Midgeley from acid attack – but how will he react?
Emotions run high during Wednesday evening’s edition of Coronation Street as acid attack victim Ryan Connor prepares to look at his horrific injuries for the first time.
The Weatherfield local’s planned move to Ibiza with Crystal Hyde, where he hoped to embark on a new career as a DJ, is all but over after he was raced to hospital with burns to his face, arm and upper-body.
And with the returning Carla Connor on hand to offer some much needed emotional support, he informs the surgeon he’s finally ready to view his facial disfigurement.
Grimly observing his reflection after being handed a mirror, Ryan discovers his wounds have not healed successfully – meaning he will need an urgent skin graft.
It’s a devastating blow for Ryan, whose injuries were sustained as he leaped to the defence of planned acid attack victim Daisy Midgeley, and he flees hospital at the earliest available opportunity.

After Daisy – who has vowed to visit him every day during his hospitalisation – and Carla discover Ryan and his backpack are gone, a search party is quickly organised.
The pair later find him in a traumatised state at a local train station, and Daisy privately admits she can’t bring herself to tell her stricken friend that Crystal wants nothing more to do with him.
Ryan was showered with acid after he jumped between Daisy – the intended target – and her stalker, Justin Rutherford.
Hoping to protect Daisy, who was due to get married that day, he was left writhing in agony after being hit with the corrosive liquid.
‘For Ryan, I don’t think he expects it to be as bad as it is,’ Ryan Prescott, who plays the character, said in a recent press release.

Horrified: ‘He has never seen major burns before so he doesn’t know what to expect,’ Ryan Prescott, who plays the character, said in a recent press release
‘He has never seen major burns before so he doesn’t know what to expect and because he has been in bandages for so long he gets into a little comfortable zone with just wearing the bandages.
‘Once his facial injuries are revealed to him, it knocks it right out of him again. The initial glances are heartbreaking. The first time he sees his face, he is thinking, “I am never going to have love in my life again. I am going to be the one that people look at in the street.”
‘In that moment, all those feelings he was trying to ignore come rushing to the surface and he realises that there is no way this is going to heal and he is going to look like his burns haven’t been there. ‘
He added: ‘It confirms to him that this is going to affect every aspect of the rest of his life, no matter what. ‘
Coronation Street continues on Wednesday April 19 at 8:00pm on ITV1.
