Cottage once owned by Prince Harry’s grandfather in Bognor Regis goes on the market

Harry and Meghan will visit the Sussex town where Princess Diana’s father lived during a whistlestop tour of their dukedom next week.

The pair will be travelling near the Bognor Regis home formerly owned by the prince’s maternal grandfather, the 8th Earl Spencer.

Their trip comes as the owners of the property, who are now putting it up for sale, revealed they found childhood pictures of princes William and Harry in the loft.

Roger and Christina Sheppard bought the striking property on 6 Arun Way in 1994.

The couple moved from Fleet after falling in love with the panoramic sea views from the balcony on the first floor.

And after settling into their new home, they claim they made a jaw-dropping discovery.

‘We don’t know for a fact if Diana ever stayed here but next door found some photos in their loft of the young princes playing in the swimming pool,’ Mrs Sheppard told the Chichester Observer.

Mrs Sheppard said they made only superficial changes to the ‘very opulent’ property, which boasts a summer house with double glazed French doors.

‘Sussex country by the sea you really can’t beat it,’ she added.

‘It is such a special part of the world. We have spent 24 wonderful years here.’

Harry and Meghan will kick off their first joint visit to the county at Edes House, located at the heart of Chichester in West Sussex.

There, California native Meghan will be shown the rare Sussex copy of the American Declaration of Independence.

The couple will then travel along the coast to Bognor Regis where they will officially open the University of Chichester’s Engineering and Digital Technology Park.

Harry and Meghan will then take their departure from West Sussex and travel along the coast to the vibrant seaside city of Brighton and Hove in East Sussex.
