Damian Lewis and his rockstar girlfriend Alison Mosshart have a giggle as they step out in New York

Damian Lewis seemed in high spirits as he stepped out in New York with his girlfriend Alison Mosshart on Tuesday.

The Band Of Brothers actor, 52, cut a casual figure in a khaki jacket over a black T-shirt while The Kills musician, 44, opted for an oversized black sweatshirt and skinny jeans.

He shielded from the sunny weather behind a pair of dark sunglasses and completed his look with a pair of shiny black boots as he carried a guitar on his back.

Alison stylishly layered a number of gold necklaces while walking around the city in a pair of New Balance trainers.

The singer toted her belongings around in a navy crossbody bag which she attached a baseball cap too.

She left her long blonde tresses loose as they cascaded past her shoulders and opted for a pair of chic sunglasses.

The pair couldn’t contain their laughter as they enjoyed a day out in the big city.

Damian married actress Helen McCrory in July 2007. The couple share a daughter, Manon and son, Gulliver.

Helen passed away from cancer in April 2021, aged 52.

Damian and Alison are thought to have met through mutual friends while in London and began dating at some point last year.

They had grown increasingly fond of one another, Mosshart’s mother Vivian, 76, told MailOnline last year.

Speaking exclusively from her home in Florida, she said: ‘I don’t know how much flak I’m going to get for all of this but of course we are excited for her.

‘They have mutual friends. I don’t know exactly how they met but I’m fine with it. If she’s happy, we are happy. I’m yet to meet him but certainly I’d like to.’

The pair were first photographed together in July at a swanky fundraising party for London’s National Gallery.

A fellow passenger, who spotted the pair travelling to the event by train, told The Mail on Sunday that the two looked ‘100 per cent romantically involved – like they were on a hot date’.

It comes following the news that Damien is forging a new career path as a musician as he releases his debut single with an album to follow in the summer.

The actor reportedly signed a record deal with Decca Records after a bidding war for the rights to release his debut album Mission Creep.

Damian has written a series of ‘deeply personal’ songs for the album which comes nearly two years after the death of his wife Helen McCrory.

Speaking to The Mirror, he said: ‘It encompasses many life experiences, and won’t take Sherlock Holmes to work out what some of those are.’

His debut single is called Down On The Bowery, with his fans speculating that it serves as an ode to his girlfriend, fellow musician Alison Mosshart.

Jokingly referring to his new career path as a ‘mini midlife crisis’, Damian said: ‘I suddenly had a lot to say. People will judge if it’s any good or not, but for me, it felt entirely natural.’

The actor is said to be playing the Cheltenham Jazz Festival on May 1 and Black Deer Festival on June 16 and he also hopes to perform at Glastonbury.
