Dani Laidley shares rare insight into her romance with childhood sweetheart Donna Leckie and their quiet life in Perth

Dani Laidley provided an update on Tuesday on her romance with childhood sweetheart Donna Leckie, revealing they are going stronger the ever.

The former AFL great, 56, revealed they are living together in Perth and often enjoy each other’s company by taking romantic walks to the beach.

‘We live in Scarborough and tend to spend a hell of a lot of time walking down the beach and swimming. It’s very therapeutic for us,’ she began.

‘It gives us time to get away and just enjoy the beautiful beaches we have.’

Dani then revealed Donna will be joining her on stage at the LGBTQI+ Pride Luncheon at The Crown on Friday, which is a milestone for their relationship.

‘She is there at everything we do together, normally I am the one that gets up and talks and Donna will talk to other guests in the room.

‘This is actually the first time we will be taking the stage together and doing a short presentation and then we are doing a Q&A together.

‘That will also give people an understanding about Donna supporting me and a little bit about our relationship. That can only be a good thing,’ she added.

In September, Dani hinted she may be engaged to Donna.

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia at the premiere of her Stan Original documentary, Revealed – Danielle Laidley: Two Tribes in Melbourne, the former AFL great said the women wear matching rings, but wouldn’t clarify what they mean.

‘You can take our rings for whatever you wish to take them for,’ she said coyly.

The couple, who had been childhood partners both at primary and high school, reconnected in 2017, and rekindled their romance in 2021.

‘We have had the best time in lockdown, playing UNO and being silly, we have known each other our whole lives so it was just fun,’ Donna gushed to Daily Mail Australia that year.

Dani first stepped out with Donna, her childhood sweetheart who she sat next to in grade one, in Melbourne in November 2021.

She had also paid tribute to her new partner by sporting earrings of the letter ‘D’ in her honour.
