Former French international David Ginola has returned to a family court for the as his divorce battle with ex-wife Coraline Delpin runs into its third year.

The 52-year-old, who is now living with French model Maëva Denat, 29, is embroiled in a legal dispute with his former partner over money.

The former Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United player was at the High Court hearing in central London today but Ms Delpin did not attend.

He agreed a financial settlement with his wife of 25 years in February 2017, but following the breakdown of their marriage.

But the case started up again nine months later when Ms Delpin accused the former midfielder of not honouring the agreement.

Today Judge Mark Everall presided over a private hearing at which he ruled journalists could name those involved but reveal little of the issues discussed.

It comes after Ginola failed in a bid to have reporters excluded. Judge Everall said the litigation involved private issues which should not be revealed in media reports.

Sports pundit Ginola previously said: ‘I am French. We are not used to this. In France the press are not allowed into these kind of hearings.’

He added that he was ‘very surprised’ the media could cover proceedings, adding: ‘it should be kept between ourselves’.

Journalists argued that the name ‘Ginola’ had been published on court listings of the case and said some detail of the marriage break-up had already emerged in media reports.

They said there was a public interest in allowing some reporting and a judge ruled in their favour.

Ginola – who has carved out a career as a TV personality since he gave up football – was spotted at a Cybex Priam pram launch last month with his girlfriend.

The couple confirmed their romance in June 2016, just weeks after he suffered a near-fatal heart attack.
