Deborra Lee-Furness admits ‘change’ ‘is frightening’ after her heartbreaking split from Hugh Jackman

Deborra-Lee Furness has opened up about what the future holds for her following her shock split from long-time husband Hugh Jackman in September.

The Jindabyne star, 68, told The Daily Telegraph on Wednesday that things are a ‘little frightening’ at the moment as she adjusts to her new life.

‘Change, transition, evolution is a little frightening and we are all a bit scared of it but I think it is probably our greatest gift,’ she began.

Furness added that scoring a role alongside Eric Bana, 55, in his new movie Force of Nature: The Dry 2, has helped keep her busy.

‘There were so many appealing factors for me, a great script by Jane Harper and directed by Robert Connolly. I love Eric and coming home to Australia to shoot in the wilds,’ she told the publication.

She went on to promise that viewers would be in for a thrilling experience when they watched the movie.

‘You’re in for a great ride. I love a mystery. There’s so many twists and turns. It keeps you on the edge of your seat.’

It comes after the Correlli actress ended her marriage with her husband, Hugh Jackman.

The Australian actor, 55, and his wife announced their shock split in September after 27 years of marriage, telling fans they separated ‘to pursue our individual growth’.

‘We have been blessed to share almost three decades together in a wonderful, loving marriage,’ the couple said in a statement obtained by PEOPLE.

‘Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth.

‘Our family has been and always will be our highest priority. We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness. We greatly appreciate your understanding in respecting our privacy as our family navigates this transition.’

The former couple signed the statement as ‘Deb and Hugh Jackman,’ adding: ‘This is the sole statement either of us will make.’

The pair had tied the knot in 1996 after crossing paths on set of Correlli in 1995.

During the course of their marriage, they adopted two children: son Oscar, 23, and daughter Ava, 18.
