Disney is advertising for cruise ship workers

If you’ve ever dreamed of getting paid to travel, then this job posting with Disney might help you fulfil that ambition.

The company is currently looking for a youth activities counselor to travel on board its luxury cruise ships, with destinations including Mexico, the California coast, Barcelona and a private island in the Bahamas.

Although it might seem like the ultimate job, the posting stipulates that candidates must be ‘able to work a seven-day, 70-to-84-hour week with limited time off’.

Other basic requirements include a minimum of two years’ experience working in a fast-paced recreational environment with children and a fluency in Spanish or Portuguese is preferred.

And candidates must be willing to share a cabin and can expect to be tested for alcohol consumption.

Despite the long hours and intense work environment, other youth activity counsellors say they love the gig.

In a video made to reveal more about the job offer, three Disney employees share their insights into the role.

Nicole, who originally hails from Canada, explains: ‘The job is really great I have a background working with kids in summer camps.

‘I wanted a job that… gave me an interesting experience.’

Nicole says that a typical day can vary wildly, with some days starting at 8:30am and others starting at 1pm to 3pm.

Edson, from Brazil, is equally enthusiastic about his job and says that ‘being a counsellor is just one of the most amazing experiences’.

Meanwhile, Sheree underscores the need for being able to deal with full-on days.

The smiling American says: ‘We’re just playing all day long for about ten hours. It takes a lot of energy!’

The Disney job opening was posted on December 20, 2017, and remains open.

Main responsibilities include looking after children – aged three to 17 – participating in youth activities programs on board the boat.

This could involve anything from organising group games to cleaning floors and prepping food trays.

According to careers site glassdoor.co.uk, Disney youth activities counselors can earn up to $1,504 a month with their living expenses covered while at sea.

MailOnline Travel has contacted Disney but is still awaiting a comment.
