- Land Rover driver sparks fury after parking vehicle over graves at cemetery
- Witnesses at the Loughborough graveyard said it showed ‘lack of respect’
- Residents added the car was just yards away from an empty car park
- Charnwood Borough Council owns the land and branded driver ‘disgraceful’
This is the moment a Land Rover driver sparked fury by parking the luxury vehicle on graves when a car park with empty spaces was just a short distance away.
Residents were left ‘disgusted’ after spotting a luxury Land Rover, worth around £28,000 parked over graves in a Loughborough cemetery.
Witnesses said that he was taking a shortcut through the cemetery at around 9.30am when he spotted the 4×4 that was parked over several graves.

The resident said: ‘It is absolutely disgusting and it shows a complete lack of respect.
‘I couldn’t believe it when I first saw it to be honest, there were even fresh flowers on one of the graves and another of them looked like they had just been put down.
‘Imagine if that was one of your relatives and you saw that, you would be outraged.
‘I couldn’t believe that someone would have such little respect that they would do that, no matter how much of a rush you were in, or even if the car park was full, it is completely inexcusable.
‘What makes it even worse is the fact that I checked the car park, and you could see car parking spaces so I have no idea why someone would feel the need to do this.’
The land is owned by Charnwood Borough Council.
Witnesses were outraged at the sight of the vehicle parked over the graves, left and right, and said the driver showed ‘a complete lack of respect’
A Charnwood Borough Council spokesman said: ‘We ask that all visitors to Loughborough Cemetery park in a courteous and respectful way and we would like to take this opportunity to remind people of this.
‘The cemetery does not have any enforceable parking restrictions and we have never had the need for any.
‘We will ask cemetery staff to be extra vigilant to any potential inconsiderate parking and point people towards the best places to park.
‘We accept the cemetery can be busy at times but there is usually a space somewhere and we are looking at ways to improve the situation.
‘Parking on graves is completely unacceptable and disrespectful.’
