Eagle-eyed viewer claims Seven stole the Sunrise logo from another iconic Australian institution – so can you identify it?

Sunrise is one of the most recognisable brands on Australian TV.

And now one eagle-eyed viewer has claimed the inspiration behind Channel Seven’s breakfast show logo comes from a similar one used by Australia Post.

Both logos feature a crescent shaped graphic.

In the case of Seven’s top-rated show, the brand offers two thick curving lines of yellow and orange, and a half circle, representing a sunrise.

The Australia Post logo, meanwhile, when viewed on its side, has a near-identical curving graphic in red.

‘While at work seeing an Australia Post Express Post box upside down, I can see where they got their current logo inspiration from…’, they wrote in the caption.

The similarity with the Sunrise logo is unmistakable.

It comes after Sunrise continues to dominate ratings in the ‘breakfast TV wars’.

In September Seven claimed victory over arch-rival Today on Channel Nine as the most watched morning show in 2023 – though the year had three months to play out.

Hosted by fan favourites Natalie Barr and Matt ‘Shirvo’ Shirvington, Sunrise appeared to have won the most viewers nationally as well as in the major metro centres.

According to OzTAM Sunrise pulled in 367,000 national viewers daily,

By comparison, Today averaged 282,000.

Today did not fair much better in the metro ratings, where it scored a daily audience of just 189,000 against Sunrise’s impressive average of 219,000.
