Speaking to the publication, Elle admitted: ‘I never wanted to be a model’ and confessed to ‘hating’ her first experience of walking on a runway.

She recalled: ‘The first time I walked the runway I was 7 years old and I did it with my aunt, who was a model. I hated it.

‘I never wanted to be a model, I wanted to study law and have a stable job in which I had enough income that would allow me to grow.’

The superstar revealed how as a child she believed that her her height, her athletic physique and broad shoulders, meant she wouldn’t be a successful model.

She explained: ‘When I started working as a model, I was like an Amazon. I had broad shoulders from swimming and narrow hips, was 1.80 cm tall and had a 90 chest. That wasn’t normal. I was a lot taller and a lot more athletic than most girls.’

Elle was given the nickname ‘The Body’ in 1986 by Time Magazine. Speaking about it, she confessed: ‘I was surprised. But at the time I didn’t think much of it, I just thought, ”That’s a bit of a weird name.”

‘A lot of people still say to me, ”Don’t you find it insulting to be called that?” But, after 45 years of work, I’m so grateful to have had the opportunity to expand my business using that name as a kind of foundation to build it on.’

Elle used her platform to launch wellbeing brand WelleCo .
